He didn’t want another predictable show truck or a cookie-cutter bagged build. The goal was simple: create something that makes people stop mid-step and wonder what they’re looking at. The result is Dirty30—a slammed 1970 Chevrolet C30 Wrecker that blends vintage utility with full-blown custom attitude.


Why Build a Wrecker?

In a scene dominated by C10s and squarebody builds, choosing a wrecker is a deliberate left turn. Rob saw potential where most see a work truck. His vision was to preserve the bold proportions of the C30 while completely reimagining its purpose.

Dirty30 keeps the soul of a tow rig—the boom, the stance, the presence—but layers it with custom fabrication, modern performance, and a show-quality finish. It’s familiar at a glance, but completely different up close.


Three and a Half Years, No Shortcuts

This wasn’t a quick flip. The build stretched over three and a half years and pushed past the $300K mark. Every surface, component, and detail was reworked.

Fabricator Marco Salazar played a major role in reshaping the truck. The wrecker body was modified to align seamlessly with the cab, the bed floor was raised for clearance, and a fully custom firewall and transmission tunnel were built to house the modern drivetrain. This level of fabrication goes far beyond bolt-on—it’s a ground-up rethink of how the truck is constructed.


Modern Muscle Under the Hood

At the core of Dirty30 is a GM LT4—a supercharged 6.2L V8 pulled straight from ZR1-level performance. With 650 horsepower on tap, this isn’t just a showpiece—it’s fully capable of working hard or lighting up the pavement.

The setup includes a Speartech harness, Speed Engineering headers, and custom Wegner Automotive components. ZaccardiBuilt Garage handled integration, including a custom oil pan to clear the chassis. A 10L90 10-speed automatic transmission backs it all up, delivering smooth shifts with serious durability.

This is a complete modern drivetrain package—built to tow, haul, and perform without compromise.


A Chassis Built to Match

The stock frame was scrapped in favor of a fully custom unit from Porterbuilt, engineered specifically for the wrecker configuration. Air suspension from Slam Specialties, paired with Ridetech shocks and AccuAir management, allows the truck to sit low enough to lay pinch welds while still maintaining drivability.

Braking is handled by Wilwood components, ensuring the truck stops as confidently as it moves.


Exterior: Clean, Classic, and Custom

Dirty30’s two-tone blue and white paint keeps things rooted in its work-truck heritage, but the details elevate it. Pinstriping by El Bugs, powder coating by Matador, and Alcoa wheels tucked under the fenders give it a refined, finished look.

Despite all the upgrades, it still reads as a wrecker—just one that’s been reimagined as a rolling piece of automotive art.


Interior: Functional with Purpose

Inside, the truck sticks to a clean and practical theme. A Snowden bench seat wrapped in black upholstery by Jackson’s Upholstery balances vintage style with comfort. Dakota Digital VHX gauges modernize the dash, while a custom audio system adds everyday usability.

It’s not overdone—it’s intentional.


Built to Be Driven

Dirty30 isn’t just a showpiece. It’s been on display at major events including SEMA Show and Dino’s Git Down, with more appearances lined up.

More importantly, Rob drives it. This isn’t a truck that lives under a cover—it’s meant to be experienced, shared, and appreciated up close.


Lessons From the Build

Like any ambitious project, this one came with challenges. Time, cost, and waiting on parts all tested patience. But in the end, the payoff came the moment the truck hit the road.
